Founded in 2010, ecumene is a reputed award winning architectural firm. The directors, Vasudevan R Kadalayil (Principal Architect), Basavaraju B R (Principal Engineer) and Surendra K Hegde (Principal Operating Officer) are driving the synchronous ideology of fostering 'Wellbeing through Design'.
Architecture is a means to a better life. Whether it’s an office, home, school, hospital or a mall, good architecture fosters the well-being of the people who inhabit that space. That’s exactly what our focus is.
The team is headed by Chetan S Garalapur and Sachin Ubbarada Chetan S Garalapur has got a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from BMSCE, Bangalore and a Master’s degree in Landscape architecture from CEPT, Ahmedabad. Chetan has worked as a landscape architect under the guidance of Dolan Desilva, Brief garden, Sri Lanka. He has been part of DplusA architects for a span of 5 years.
Sachin Ubbarada has got a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from BMSCE and a Master’s degree in Landscape architecture from CEPT university. He is a recipient of distinguished student award from CEPT university and his thesis on ‘ecological rehabilitation of mining sites in Sandur schist belt’ has been awarded the prestigious ISOLA student award. He has previously worked with Integrated design and Oikos on projects ranging from residential landscape to campus master plans.
Mansi Deshpande, an interior designer is a product from Faculty of interior design, Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, (CEPT) Ahmedabad.
She has worked in luxury interior segment for 8 years in Mumbai with Ramesh Edwankar and later became the partner in his firm. During this period she worked on high end residences (bungalows and apartments) and offices in Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai. This gave her opportunity to understand the requirement, trends and mind set of the upper class and luxury loving society. Most of the time these interiors were modern and contemporary and inspired by the designers in Europe.
